Winter Institute Scholarships!
Ingram Book Company has once again teamed up with the Emerging Leaders Project to offer 8 scholarships to Wi5 in San Jose (Feb. 3-5, 2010). A scholarship will be awarded for each bookselling region (excepting NCIBA, the host region). The scholarships cover lodging and transportation, the deadline is October 20, 2009.
The Emerging Leaders Project is looking for the future leaders and innovators of the bookselling world (see our Mission Statement below). To apply (or nominate someone) for the scholarship, simply send an email to abaemergingleaders@gmail.com. Booksellers can nominate themselves or bookstore owners/ managers can nominate a bookseller (Note: if the owner/manager nominates, we also need an email from the nominee).
The email should identify the candidate, their region, and the store in which s/he works (store must be a member of the ABA to attend Wi5). In addition, information about the candidate's role in the store, his or her feelings about bookselling, the candidate's potential for a long-term bookselling career, and how she or he might benefit from the Winter Institute help give us a sense of the applicant. We'd love as many, and varied, applicants as possible. Remember, deadline is October 20! Questions can be sent to the EL email or you can contact your Regional Rep.
Thanks again to Ingram Book Company for making this possible! Their support of both Winter Institute and Emerging Leaders is greatly appreciated.
